A septic tank will receive all types of wastewater, i.e. sewage as well as grey water. The sewage and grey water get mixed and this needs to be treated. A biological treatment will digest the wastewater. There are very few chances for presence of heavy metals but not much can be done to remove heavy metals from a septic tank.
Pathogens are another factor that need treatment. So, the septic tank has to be designed with 2 chambers. The first one where the bioremediation takes place of the Black and Grey Water. After this the water has to flow to the 2nd chamber where the water gets disinfected.
Once both processes are carried out this water can be recycled and reused for the following applications in your homes:
- Washing of Utensils
- Mopping of Floors
- Flushing - toilets
- Gardening
