this is how people learn.  new technologies are explored, tried and improved.  technologies compete in the market place and thus to win and survive, technologies have to use less resources to do a superior job.    like what, Steve Jobs said, "when people first come across a problem, the initial solution would be complex and multi step.  and for many people, that would be fine.  But when you peel away the many layers of the onion, you will find an elegant solution. "  so in as in computers, that once started as massive arrays of refrigerator size devices and are now a multifunction phone, thus will be waste water.
