First of all cropping pattern should be in accordance to the local ecological setup. We should revisit the agricultural history of any area before giving the inputs to understand better utilization of available resources which is generally lacking. If any change is done then go for "layer planning" of plantation before the waste water is being used for main crops. The plant species could be used to treat waste water to some extent so that the contaminants could not be entered in food chain. Detail planning could be discussed as per the objective and studying local natural setup.
